Australian Facilities Landscapes  - General Manager.

October 2021 to Current.

This position was responsible for the managerial oversight of Land management operations covering Northern NSW Defence Bases and a number of contracts for other commercial customers including large facilities companies , State Government, and local councils.  This position covered land management operations including:

  • Wide area grass maintenance, 

  • Sports fields, and physical training areas.

  • Airfields including military and civilian operations.

  • High profile area and memorials maintenance including war memorial and heritage service areas.   

  • Bushfire mitigation activities including vegetation management and fire trail maintenance 

  • Arboriculture services - including pruning activities, removal and safety assessments.

  • Civil maintenance and construction activities including fire trail and track maintenance. 

  • Environmental services including large scale weed management services and replanting activities. ​

​Staff for this business was +130 consisting of permanent and casual in house staff.

Waverley Council - Executive Manager.

​August 2015 - December 2018.

 

​In this position I was responsible for the operations of the city services within Waverley including; Domestics and Commercial Waste recovery, Parks and Gardens management, Tree and Arboreal services, Beach and Coastal services, Civil Construction, Assets and Road Maintenance, Public Place cleaning, Graffiti removal, Cemeteries, Mechanical Workshops, Stores and Logistics.  Staffing for this department is +250 with an annual budget in excess of $36 mil. This department holds over one third of councils’ employees and is the largest single budget area within council.

Serco - Facilities and Garrison Manager.

January 2019 to October 2021.

     This position was responsible for the managerial oversight of Facilities maintenance both Soft and Hard services for the Villawood                         Detention Centre located in the Western Suburbs of Sydney. This position covers both OPEX and CAPEX operations for this site                                including:

  • Hard FM management for the largest Australian onshore immigration detention facility

  • Cleaning operations, including specialist tasking such as Clinical, Hazardous and High area cleaning.

  • Catering operations serving in excess of 1200 meals per day over multiply dinning facilities for a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds.

  • Grounds maintenance services for this 16ha site including general turf, sport turf, Arboreal services and garden maintenance.

  • Stores and logistics site operations.

Staff for this department is +120 consisting of permanent and casual in house staff.

Career Break & Short term consultancy roles,   ​

​September 2014- July 2015

After being made redundant from Serco Sodexo Defence Services I undertook a career break and some short term consultancy roles ​for organisations such as Lake Maintenance, Team Logistics and others conducting such projects as Change management coaching, Team engagement training, Industrial relations advocacy, and workplace investigations.  

Serco Sodexo Defence Services - Regional General Manager.

​September 2008 - August 2014.  (Redundancy due to services contract with ADF ending)

 

In this position I was accountable for the full financial (+$60m opex) and operational management of the New South Wales 16 business units under two Australian Defence Force garrison support contracts. The position covered eight major defence bases and remote units throughout metropolitan and regional New South Wales. The total number of staff within this operations was 1200 and they operated in the areas of; Hospitality, Commercial and public area Cleaning, Grounds Maintenance, Security and Concierge services, Store and Logistics, Passenger Transport, Waste management, Military Training area management, Pest and Weed control, Sport and recreation services, Airfield refiling and cleaning,  Environmental services, Contract Management, and Facilities and civil infrastructure Management.

Iron Mountain Australia - State Manager, NSW.

​July 2006 - August 2008

 

​This position included the full financial, operational, and business development functions of the Iron Mountain’s NSW records management operations. 
This position covered the management of three facilities in NSW including two purpose built high-rise mezzanine racked hard copy records storage facilities, a large volume high security climate controlled media protection vault, a document and media digital imaging operation, and a high security destruction shredding plant.   

TenixToll Defence Logistics  - Warehousing and Distribution Manager, NSW.

​July 2004 - July 2006

 

This position was the management of the warehouse and distribution function for the NSW component of a national logistics contract for the Australian Defence department. In this position I was responsible for the transition from a public service run operation to a commercial operations including the full recruitment and selection of staff and the development of the operational procedures for the NSW business.

​The scope of the operation spanned 4 Australian Defence force locations in NSW  containing 49 standalone warehouse facilities included the largest single warehousing site in the southern hemisphere at the time, a 137 ha site located in Moorebank NSW.

Patrick Defence Logistics - Operations Manager, Solomon Islands.

February 2004 - July 2004

 

​This role entailed the completion and implementation of a full Supply Chain, OH&S, and HACCP review for the Patrick operations in the Solomon Islands. This operation was in support of the Australian Government Assistance Mission (RAMSI) to the Solomon Islands Government. 

Patrick Logistics - State Manager, NSW.

July 2000 - February 2004. (Redundancy due to restructure)

 

​This role entailed the full operational and financial management of the Ambient and Dangerous goods Distribution Centers in NSW. All Distribution Centers were their own profit centers with a combined annual budget. Most facilities operated a two shift, five days per week operation with staff including both permanent and casual labour.
